Joanne first appeared on the stage in a university revue show at Victoria University in Wellington, where she was studying for a BA in French and English Literature including Drama. Over the past 10 years she has been working in theatre and in front of the camera in a number of productions including Bread and Roses, Fall Out, Cover Story, Tiger Country and as a dialogue coach on Cloud 9's The Tribe.
