Giles has always felt his mother was eccentric but also secretive – could there be more to her move to Sunset Cove than meets the eye? What is her secret? And who does she work for really? What – or who – is she always trying to hide? 

Joanne Mildenhall
Joanne first appeared on the stage in a university revue show at Victoria University in Wellington, where she was studying for a BA in French and English Literature including Drama. Over the past 10 years she has been working in theatre and in front of the camera in a number of productions including Bread and Roses, Fall Out, Cover Story, Tiger Country and as a dialogue coach on Cloud 9’s The Tribe.

Among Giles’ classmates are Anthony and Antonia; Anthony is macho and assertive. – Antonia is wacky and feminine. They both look very similar – and are never seen together at the same time… They are attracted to each other and are apprently going steady. But some believe they are in fact one and the same person, locked in some multi-dimensional parallel universe?

Victoria Spence
Victoria is 16 years old. She has experience as a stills photographic model and has appeared in several television commercials. Her drama work includes a lead role in The Joker as well as parts in Memory and Desire, Shortland Street, Jack be Nimble and Mother Tongue. Victoria played the part of Zot in William Shatner’s A Twist in the Tale – The Duellists. She has also played the part of Salene in The Tribe Series 1, 2 and 3.

JET MARIGOLD

JET MARIGOLD

With an explosive temper and being prone to overreact to the slightest antagonism, Jet stands out with her blue wacky hair and outrageous fashion. Could her irritability stem from the junk and chemically processed food she adores? Jet has a vivid imagination and is quite paranoid at times, thinking up wild conspiracy theories and she feels it is up to her to solve them…Jet gradually finds herself attracted to none other than Beanie, whom she correctly describes as “one in a billion”

 

Laura Wilson
Laura first appeared as a core cast member in the Cloud 9 series The Tribe 2. She has also appeared in the short film and educational video Choice.

 

BEANIE

BEANIE
A kid with weird ears, Beanie befriends but also disturbs Giles and there is something about him that is literally out of this world. Beanie has a habit of searching the skies and drawing flying saucers, which he claims to see in his dreams… will Giles ever discover the mystery surrounding Beanie? Beanie does not know his own origins and doesn’t fit in with the other kids around – but he develops an attraction for the feisty Jet Marigold.

Todd Emerson
Todd is 16 years old. He has been acting since 1996 when he appeared in the Secret Garden. He has also been in Kids World, Her Majesty and NZ tv drama Shortland Street. Atlantis High is Todd’s first feature role for television.

SOPHIE MAY

SOPHIE MAY
Bubbly and vivacious, Sophie is a well-meaning happy airhead – and quite ditzy. With her infectious giggle she befriends Giles – but other students keep their distance from her. She has another side to her – Sophie seems to have psychic powers and when she becomes anxious or upset, objects start floating around and some very odd things begin to occur around her… Sophie also claims to have had later on an alien encounter and she becomes obsessive over Giles Gordon, who does not share her interest.

Many residents of Sunset Cove are also puzzled by Sophie’s toy rabbit, Mr Fluffy Muffin…

 

Lucy Gamble
Lucy is 17 years old and had only just left high school to join the core cast for Atlantis High. She has already appeared in the Cloud 9 production of William Shatner’s Twist in the Tale – The Green Dress and held the lead roles for Shakespeare’s MacBeth and Twelfth Night.
