COACH SHANE’S GUIDE TO SPORT

“Hi there, I’m Coach Shane. I’m the coach of the Champion Football team. We’ve got the winning combination and it’s all because of yours truly. Here’s my guide to Sports.

MY FAVORITE SPORT

All sport is fantastic! You’re part of a team and you’re there to have a good time.

There are many sports I coach – Soccer, Latin American dancing, hockey and of course I help the cheerleaders out with their moves and their suntans.

But my favourite sport would have to be American Football. The tackles, the gameplan, the touchline!! It’s so exhilirating!

I’ve been coaching the school football team for two years now and we’re champions! We’ve won the inter-schools championship two years running.

Josh is my star quarterback. There’s nothing this guy can’t do. He’s got all the moves and talent that will take him to the top – with my coaching of course.

COACH SHANE’S 5 POINT GAMEPLAN FOR SPORT

How do you play with a winning attitude? Here’s my tips:

1 – The Moves – Get a winning combination and refine it. Listen to the calls made by your fellow team-mates and everything will fall into place.

2 – The Gear – It helps to have the right gear for protection and this includes shoulderpads, a codpiece for those delicate places, and padding everywhere else you can stick it. Those tackles hurt!

3 – The Fans – Fans at a game can make all the difference. The screaming and yelling really gets you moving. And a winning smile goes a long way.

4 – Cheerleaders – These babes are fantastic for making a guy feel important – when you feel important your game improves – and who knows you might end up going home with one after the game.

5 – Recovery – Football can take a toll on your body. After a game you should run yourself a nice aromatic bath and relax.

COACH SHANE’S GUIDE TO EASTER 2

COACH SHANE’S GUIDE TO EASTER
I haven’t ever forgotten my childhood Easter’s. These days I treat every kid in the school to a fancy Easter Egg at Christmas. And I always make sure I leave one out for Santa because he loves Easter Eggs.

Last year Bad Mood kidnapped the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny was making his way through Sunset Cove with his reindeer and his sleigh in the dead of night and Bad Mood decided that she would steal all the eggs and the bunny as well.

But the Easter Bunny is magic as we all know and somehow Fluffy Muffin found out what had happened and came to the Easter Bunny’s rescue. No one saw Bad Mood for weeks after that. Some say that Fluffy Muffin force fed Bad Mood hundreds of Easter Eggs until she was sick and other’s say Fluffy Muffin told Bad Mood that if she kept being bad then he’d make sure Bad Mood helped deliver the Easter Eggs each year with the Easter Bunny.

Now that I’m an adult and the Easter Bunny doesn’t drop off eggs to me anymore, I have to go and see him myself. We swap secrets. He tells me how he makes all his eggs and delivers them all over the world and tell him how to look good, feel good and get the best tan. We have a great relationship and sometimes I wonder whether the Easter Bunny might be my ideal partner.

Here’s some jokes he told me this week:

Q: How do bunnies stay healthy?
A: Eggercise

Q: What do you get when you cross a chicken and the Easter Bunny?
A: A good Easter.

Q: What do you call Easter when you are hopping around?
A: Hoppy Easter!

Q: “Why are you studying your Easter candy?”
A: “I’m trying to decide which came first-the chocolate chicken or the chocolate egg!”

Right well that’s it from me – the Easter Bunny and I are going surfing.Next page

COACH SHANE’S GUIDE TO EASTER

“Hey there, I’m Coach Shane and I’d like to take the time to tell you all about my childhood Easter experiences in Sunset Cove…”

Easter in Sunset Cove

As you’ll know from Mr Fluffy Muffin, Easter in Sunset Cove is a week long celebration which makes it understandble why Sunset Cove is in the record books for consuming almost a 1/4 of the world’s easter eggs each year.

When I was younger my family lived right on the edge of town. Every Sunday we’d drive into Church and meet up with our grandfather on the way.

Our Mum’s father, “Pops”, was senile long before I was born, and only went downhill from there. The worst thing after Church was getting stuck behind Pops on his way home again. He would drive his old 4WD 10 KPH down the middle of the road, completely unaware of our beeping, yelling, or ill-advised attempts at passing him. Blind as a bat in one eye to begin with and deaf from old age, he had no business being behind the wheel of ANYthing.

But my first memories of Easter were when I was 4 years old. My brother and I woke up on Easter Morning and Pops, all excitedly, told us the Easter bunny had been and pooped out minature eggs all over the garden. We ran out there like we were on fire and started picking them all up. Only after we’d eaten a few did Pops tell us that that’s where our pet goat had slept last night.

I don’t think he realised himself what the implications of this was because he was eating the rotten little brown things too. But, hey, I was only 4 and he was of course 94.

In later years I remember the great Sunset Cove Downhill Egg Race. We’d entered every year and never won. But that year in ’83 Pops had a great idea. He gave us a little piece of blu-tack that we stuck between our egg and the spoon. And while we were running down hill as fast as our legs would carry us, Pops was tripping up the other kids and making them land face first in their eggs.

We raced over the finish line and got handed over our years supply of chocolate eggs. Then we piled them on the back of Pop’s pick up and sat on the back watching the long line of traffic behind us as we stuffed our faces with chocolate.

The next year I was teaching other kids how to cheat, look good and get away with it.

I always like to win now, especially if I look good doing it. I guess that’s why I became a Coach.

DR LEGGS’ report on COACH SHANE (Richard Lambeth)

DR LEGGS’ report on COACH SHANE (Richard Lambeth)

Hello, I am Dr Leggs, the resident psychiatrist of Sunset Cove. Many interesting people come to see me about their problems (and you can sometimes see me in Atlantis High!). Each week I’m profiling different Sunset Covers – and this week is the tanned and toned Coach Shane.

Name:Coach Shane (without the Coach there is no Shane).
Age: Twenty something in body but oh so much younger in mind.
Status:

The physical education teacher with the tan and the cha cha cha.

Appearance:Never without a sexy little pair of spandex shorts, a whistle round the neck and a pair of sparkling white trainers. Oh, and a football under his arm.
Past History:Nobody seems to know the history of Coach Shane. He has been working at the school for quite some time and loves living in Sunset Cove. It seems as if Coach Shane would have been a mummy’s boy and it is quite possible that he actually lives with his mother even now as it is doubtful that he would be able to cope on his own.
Motives:The Coach wants everyone to be as into sport as he is. He wannts everybody to be as tanned as he is. And he wants spandex to make a comeback. He is fascinated with dance moves and tries to incorporate it as much as he can in to his everyday life.
Influences:The Coach is influenced by the sun’s movement across the sky and by the amount of glitter on his shorts. He loves the gym and the beach. But most of all he is influenced by his mirror.
Strengths: This tanned adonis is a fantastic dancer once he gets his groove thang going. He is also the best at tanning in the whole of Sunset Cove and at knowing how to position himself in the sun to maximise the rays. The Coach is great at polishing his mirror so that he can see himself to best advantage and he’s pretty good at keeping his hair swept back. He also has a knack for buying the teeniest weeniest shorts available to man.
Weaknesses: The weaknesses are actually a mirror image of the strenghts in this case. Coach Shane has a definite weakness for shopping, looking in the mirror, checking that his hair is looking good and following the rays of sun. Coach Shane also has a weakness for the milkshakes they make at the Princess Diner and if he doesn’t watch out, he might develop a weight problem.
Catchphrases: “Here’s your motivation” – “Stick with the game plan” – “Touchdown” – “Moby Who?” and (to himself) “Hey gorgeous”.
Secrets:.This is one person who has no secrets. He’s like an open book. He is in love with himself and he is more than happy for everyone to know it. No, I’ve got nothing on this guy.
Rumours:

Rumour has it that the Coach is becoming an expert Latin dancer and might just be looking at a career in the Ballroom. It is also rumoured that the Coach is likely to develop a fascination for leg warmers and he has been spotted eyeing up a vivid orange glittery pair at the local mall.

Q Anything else you can tell us about a day on the set of Atlantis High?

RL I have a great time whenever I work. I usually sneak away with a rugby ball and kick it around with Michael between scenes. We always get in trouble iwth the makeup people because we get all sweaty and our makeup runs. I just laugh and joke around with the other actors. We rehearse our lines and scenes and pull pranks on each other. It’s great.

Q How did you get into acting?

RL I had always wanted to. So I did a one day acting and modelling course. I then went to Drama School and got a Bachelor or Performing Arts.

Q What has been your hardest scene to film?

RL The Romeo and Juliet stuff at the school. It was hard because Coach Shane’s world is crumbling around him.

Q What do you do between scenes?

RL Sometimes watch t.v. Kick a ball around with Michael Wesley Smith and get all sweaty.

Q How long is a typical day in shotting Atlantis High?

RL About 12 hours.

Q How would you describe Atlantis High?

RL A place where there is always something happening. You could never be bored at Atlantis High.
